Full-Time | Port Moody & Burnaby

Do you love great coffee, exceptional hospitality and building strong teams? Are you the kind of leader who sets a high bar, communicates clearly, notices the details and knows how to hold people accountable while still making them feel supported and encouraged?

We’re looking for an experienced Front of House Manager to lead our café teams across our Port Moody and Burnaby locations.

This is a hands-on management role for an experienced café leader and skilled barista who understands that great hospitality doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from strong training, clear expectations, consistent systems and a team that feels confident and supported.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring both locations consistently deliver the level of service, coffee quality and hospitality our guests have come to expect from Gabi & Jules.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has at least two years of café, coffee shop or hospitality management experience, with direct responsibility for leading and developing a team.
  • Is a skilled and confident barista, ideally with experience working on semi-automatic espresso machines and proficiency in latte art.
  • Has experience training and developing baristas, including providing constructive feedback and maintaining beverage standards.
  • Is a strong people leader who can set clear expectations, hold team members accountable and address performance concerns while remaining encouraging and respectful.
  • Has exceptional customer service skills and genuinely enjoys creating memorable experiences and meaningful connections with guests.
  • Is a strong communicator who can effectively share information, expectations and feedback across two locations and multiple shifts.
  • Is highly organized and comfortable managing staff scheduling, availability, coverage and changing staffing needs.
  • Is diligent and detail-oriented and takes pride in maintaining consistently high standards.
  • Is proactive, driven and comfortable taking ownership rather than waiting to be told what needs to be done.
  • Is agile and adaptable, recognizing that the needs of a café and bakery business change significantly throughout the year. You’re comfortable adjusting staffing, priorities and workflows as business levels ebb and flow.
  • Can confidently troubleshoot problems, make sound decisions and keep things moving when the unexpected happens.
  • Has a valid BC driver’s licence and reliable access to a vehicle, as regular travel between our Port Moody and Burnaby locations is required.
  • Loves coffee, hospitality and, ideally, pie. 🥧

What You’ll Be Doing

As our Front of House Manager, you’ll have overall responsibility for the performance and consistency of our FOH teams across both Gabi & Jules locations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, supporting and developing the FOH teams at our Port Moody and Burnaby locations.
  • Upholding and continually reinforcing our standards for hospitality, coffee quality, cleanliness, merchandising and daily operations.
  • Leading by example on the floor and stepping into service and barista roles when needed.
  • Training and developing baristas to ensure consistent espresso preparation, milk steaming, latte art and beverage presentation.
  • Providing ongoing coaching, feedback and performance management to FOH team members.
  • Creating and managing FOH schedules that balance the needs of the business, our team and our labour targets.
  • Ensuring both locations are appropriately staffed throughout busy periods, seasonal changes, vacations and unexpected absences.
  • Regularly spending time at both locations to observe operations, support the team and ensure standards are being consistently maintained.
  • Creating a warm, welcoming and memorable experience for every guest and ensuring the team consistently delivers the same.
  • Responding to customer concerns thoughtfully and professionally and using feedback as an opportunity to improve.
  • Ensuring opening, closing and daily operational systems are being completed accurately and consistently.
  • Maintaining clean, organized, well-stocked and inviting cafés.
  • Supporting merchandising and identifying opportunities to increase sales through product knowledge, suggestive selling and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Communicating closely with our leadership team about staffing, performance, operational challenges and opportunities for improvement.
  • Helping us continually refine our systems, training and processes as the business evolves.

Position Details

  • Full-time management position.
  • Approximately 40 hours per week.
  • Must have flexible availability, including weekends.
  • Regular work at both our Port Moody and Burnaby locations is required.
  • A valid BC driver’s licence and reliable vehicle are required.
  • Medical and dental benefits available.
  • Tips shared amongst the team.
  • Staff discounts on coffee, food and baked goods.
