Gabi & Jules has a mission to create an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to individuals of all abilities.
Gabi & Jules has a mission to create an environment that is inclusive and welcoming to individuals of all abilities. This was inspired by the fact that the bakery is named for our daughters Gabi & Juliana and Juliana is on the autism spectrum. We have seen the isolation that can came with that diagnosis and wanted to ensure that our business would create opportunities for her and others with diverse abilities. While Jules was our inspiration, we quickly saw that there is an absolute need for our communities and for businesses to embrace inclusion and create opportunities for all. We have had successes and failures and continue to learn on our journey of inclusion but we have seen the beauty and kindness that comes from fostering an inclusive work environment.
In a recent Diversity & Inclusion survey we found that 40% of our team members self-disclose as having a disability. We believe that by taking measurement we can hold ourselves to account and continue to work to find areas where we can improve.
We are also proud to have been accredited as a Rainbow Registered recognized by Canada's LGBT+ Chamber of Commerce for meeting stringent criteria attesting to diverse and inclusive practices.
In addition to our awards, one of the owners, Lisa Beecroft is the current co-chair of The President's Group, a group of 25 CEOs and business leaders who are champions for more accessible, inclusive workplaces.
